I have learned a great deal about TESOL, TESL, TEFL, and TEYL just from this first unit. For starters I did not realize the great deal of differentiation and therefore specialization that takes place for all English teaching settings from teaching children, to business professionals, to researchers, to the curious educated person who sees English as a hobby. From such a vast field of learners, their experiences and their English language needs, theories and pedagogies have been constructed to maximize the efficacy of English language acquisition. From the Course Content, I am hopeful that I will truly learn how to construct a syllabus, the range of language theories that do exist and relevant to my work as a teacher, learn how to construct and find new material, and to finally put it all together as an awesome class from specifically a Young Learners perspective. It is my hope and dream that each class I teach from now on, will be that much better, that much more exciting, given from what I can learn here at ITTT.
