This unit looked at different media, activities/games to energize and excite the young learners' classroom. It showed a structured method of using each medium to achieve a particular goal: whether it be learning tenses, vocabulary or activating listening and speaking skills etc.
Interestingly, it exposed the use of seasonal activities and shared quite helpful online references to aid in the vibrancy of the classroom. (I never knew Crayola had an actual website with drawing aids geared for study)
It is obvious from this unit that if the educator has online access, and uses it in the most effective and correct manner, it can be considered a huge benefit as a educational tool and not a distraction as is thought in many 'scholarly' circles.
Intriguingly enough, the application of Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligence to learning in the classroom, touched a deep note with me, as I have always thought and used these principles, without recognizing this was an explored theory.
I cannot wait for the opportunity to administer The Connell Multiple Intelligence Questionnaire for Children; I am really looking forward to what it will reveal among my current students, whom i have evaluated using a similar system and it would be interesting to see how accurate my own personal assumptions will appear.
On the whole, I really enjoyed this chapter and found it extremely edifying and refreshing.
