Evaluating and testing create multiple different ways for teachers to go over the progress of students within their classrooms. It also allows for an area to see where many students maybe struggling and thus creates a need for the teacher to go back and review a section before moving along further with their lesson plans. Placement exams allow for the ability to make sure students are grouped together with those who have similar skill levels as themselves. Rather than placing a student who is only in the beginning stages of learning with a student who has already been studying for several years, they are placed with more beginners. As much as there are numerous pros to evaluating and testing, there is one major con that isn't really discussed. This is the matter of how some students actually struggle with testing, enough so that some cannot physically take a test because it brings on panic or anxiety attacks. Where some may easily fly through the tests, others will struggle to barely get through the first question. Unfortunately to teachers, it isn't clear from the beginning who may have this issue until a test is finally administered to the students. Sometimes even the brightest students in the class are the ones who may suffer from this problem. Students who have this issue will tend to stress out more and become extreme flustered. A teacher needs to learn how to work around this, to make the situation comfortable enough for the student to be physically and mentally able to take the test without applying too much pressure on them. From the beginning, a teacher should have a plan in place in case they may have a student who will need that extra bit of attention when it comes to testing time. Just because they become too anxious or frustrated because of having too take a test or exam, does not mean that they should have to suffer each time.
