In Unit 12 we learn about teaching the productive skills in a classroom. To speak and to write. How to help the students become more at ease while speaking, to build their confidence so that they have less hesitations but also have required vocabulary to express themselves with fluency. The writing skill is in addition to the other skills and can help tremendously when they speak because they can work on forming good sentences that they can read and memorize. Although not highlighted in this unit I have seen it happen. The ESA format of a speaking or writing lesson, creates confidence in the students to be able to complete any language goal of a lesson. The many games that can be played in the classroom as a tool for becoming more fluent while speaking and writing make learning fun. Games can always lift the mood of a class after working hard on learning many new words or grammar points and can help solidify the students learning. It is wonderful to see students be excited and engaged in their learning and is very rewarding to a teacher.
