Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

This unit highlights the things needed to learn a new language, specifically that students need to be exposed to it, understand its meaning, understand how its constructed and be able to practice and produce it. What vocabulary we select depends on how appropriate it is to the age and level of English the students have, to the task/curriculum, how often they are likely to use that language and how easy it is to teach that vocabulary. I feel I've learnt the value of teaching vocabulary and grammar in contexts the students will use, understand and relate to. I've learnt that to give students many opportunities to practice grammatical structures, they must first be engaged in fun and varied ways, ( such as picture prompts, sentence starters, slow pictionary or sharing their favourite holiday for example). Using the boomerang or patchwork ESA methods give students the chance to listen to, speak and write new grammatical sturctures, or to practice structures in different contexts with new vocabulary/ Language functions such as refusing, agreeing, disagreeing, and suggesting can be covered in the contexts of role play or class or group discussions, where students are asked to provide feedback. This unit helped me re-engage with Unit 2 and the ESA structures and how they relate to the explicit teaching of vocabulary, grammar and language functions.
