I think that this unit was useful in focusing on the receptive skills: reading and listening. I thought this chapter made a very interesting and good point that students should be able to be some what comfortable listening to a passage where they do not understand all of the words. Usually when I listen to something in another language and I do not know all of the meanings of the words I get frustrated and concerned that I am not fully understanding. I think the method of pre-teaching only essential vocabulary is useful. I also think the kinds of lesson plans included in this chapter are really interesting and have a logical flow to them.
