In this unit, different methodologies, theories and techniques where presented. There are about 9 different methodologies with Grammar translation and Audio lingual methods being some of the oldest. One of the most important techniques I learned was about the ESA approach. ESA stand for Engage, Study and Activate. It is one of the methods that can be used at any level of language learning and also can be used in different combinations, such as straight arrow, boomerang or patchwork. I feel like I have seen this technique used the most in my teaching experience, but I never knew the terms that were associated with it. ESA will be very useful in improving my lesson planning.
