I have had a few years of experience in English tutoring, and have always tried to relate to students and make my lessons interesting for them while also making sure that they absorb key information. However, I feel that this unit has really broadened my perspective as previously I had only vague ideas of what constitutes a good teacher or what roles a teacher should take on in the classroom—though my ideas were along the same lines as those elaborated on in the unit, having clear definitions and explanations really helped me to consider more carefully my relationships with students and to be much more aware of how I interact with them.
