This unit discusses authentic and non-authentic materials in a more detailed manner. I finally know why authentic can build students' confidence: when students can understand the authentic materials which fit them, they will turn to believe that they can understand real English and live in an English-speaking country.
This unit also compares created materials and course books. While course books may be convenient for teachers, they may not be suitable for certain groups of students. Students may also find them predictable and lose their interest. However, if teachers can adjust the course books to the students, that may be a good choice. Teachers can omit unsuitable part, but not too much. Teachers can supplement some more relevant materials. Teachers can also use the materials in their own personal way.
