In this unit I have learned that there are three main aspects or areas to consider when teaching a new language: vocabulary, grammar and language functions. Usually a single lesson is focused on a single area, although it is essential to cover all three of them in order for the student to learn the language effectively. There are various techniques to build a lesson about a specific area, but each technique is appropriate to only one of the three phases of the ESA method.
