This unit spoke to the various equipment teaching aid used in the teaching/learning process. While there are many different teaching aids which can help make lessons more interesting and effective, I used the unit to focus primarily on those resources that are more readily available to my teaching practice. I noted that board work presentation is key to the learning process and special care should be given when writing on the board. It is important to stay away from capitalization as writing should look as authentic/natural as possible, and instead use different colors, underlining or circling to highlight differences or variances in language structure, grammar, etc. While I have never used an interactive white board or overhead projector in my classroom presentations, it was interesting to note how effective they can be in the learning process, but not without having disadvantages, understandably. I paid special attention to visual aids, worksheets and work cards as these are primary teaching aids in my practice. I got a better understanding of how they can be used to attract attention and aid with memory, be used to set context, help with communicative activities and be useful in presenting new vocabulary items. Overall, I learnt that careful thought should be given to the equipment and teaching aids which will be used in the classroom as they are highly dependent on the aims of the lesson and the efficiency with which those aims will be executed.
