Unit 18 covers several grammar points. The modal auxilliary verbs, the passive voice vs the active voice and the phrasal verbs. Although I use and have used these forms of grammar I don't remember taking such a close look at each one and analyzing them. This has been a very good unit for me to study especially as I will be explaining them to future students and coming up with exercises to help them distinguish and understand the differences. For students to remember and correctly use the modals they need good explanations and plenty of practice. I find it takes time to know what a transitive separable vs an intransitive and the transitive inseparable phrases are and be able to explain what distinguishes them. The tasks at the end of the unit were very helpful in cementing the material in this unit.
