This unit was a basic refresher on past tenses, which mirror present tenses, encompassing past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. Of special note are irregular forms, which must essentially be memorized by students,as they follow no obvious pattern. Tenses are where language learners tend to generate the most errors, so extra care should be taken by the teacher to monitor, or at least be aware of, why and how these errors occur. As a working ELF instructor, I personally see past continuous (like present continuous) as creating the most common errors as students frequently drop, or forget, the "to be" verb, but yet students use the past continuous tense far more often the past perfect tenses, which creates, in my opinion, a false sense of knowledge and comfort in the tense.
