This unit provided a brief introduction to the intricacies of English grammar. We learned about the parts of speech, and were made aware of various exceptions to the rules. As a native speaker of English who attended school in the US at a time when the ability to utilize grammar correctly was emphasized with little instruction as to the labeling of different parts of speech, I found this unit useful personally. I teach in Japan, where many students are keen to master grammar. Sometimes when they ask me questions, I can instinctively tell them whether their sentences are correct or not, but sometimes hesitate to explain why. I think i will revisit this unit from time to time when such situations arise.
