This unit has been really encouraging. While going through its content, I came across a few techniques I have been engaging with lesson preparation subconsciously for so long! For instance, careful selection of materials is one of them. Some texts in my coursebooks just are not geared to fascinate students and generate their interest and I know that the moment I see them. So I select something else or edit texts to make them match both the teaching point and student ability level. I can often tell whether or not the reading material will be fine with learners in terms of new vocab density and complexity so as to consider pre-teaching or making amendments.
