This unit covered some common issues when teaching English as a second language. Issues such as class size, reluctant students, issues with listening skills, use of native language, different skill levels of students within the same class, and how to build rapport with a new class were covered. These problems can all be solved with various techniques, as well as patience by the teacher. Lessons should be flexible enough to deal with any issues that may happen to arise, and a prepared teacher can address and resolve most issues if he or she takes the initiative.
