Studying modal verbs is one of the most favorite grammar issues among my students. They like interviewing each other, asking questions about their abilities, making up lists of rules at school or other public places to practice such verbs as can, could, must and should. Though the difference between some verbs like can or may might be confusing for them. Learning phrasal verbs requires more time and patience. I have noticed that my students experience difficulties translating sentences with phrasal verbs. They usually remember the meaning of the verb itself, but they don't see any difference in meaning if a particle is added to the verb. That's why I often ask them to learn phrasal verbs by heart, make up sentences with these verbs and write dictations.
