This unit focused primarily on how to best teach new language. The unit provided examples of how to teach language breaking it down into vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language functions. I found the language functions section particularly useful, as I have never approached teaching English this way. This could largely be due to the fact that I have taught mainly English speakers, but understanding why we use language and how we use language really helps to put language into a contextual framework that will help students utilize words correctly. I found the sample lesson to be effective as well. The boomerang-style lesson for this type of language learning really helps students to hopefully solidify the ways in which they can use words.
