There are seven different future tenses and some are very similar and close to one another. The fact that the present simple and present continuous can be used for future actions can be confusing which why as a teacher one has to be able to present students with appropriate examples to distinguish the differences.
The different usages often overlap thus as to minimise confusion one has to select clear and applicable activities (for each tense) during the activation stage. These can easily be adapted however the differences need to be stressed.
As a teacher sound knowledge are imperative (as with other tenses) of the rules and forms are especially when recognizing and spotting common student errors and subsequent correction strategies.
I found it very interesting as to how the tenses are used to connect the present with the past and how to explain that something will be completed or still be in progress at a given time in the future.
