This unit covers course books and lesson materials for teaching English as a second language. By using both created materials (designed specifically for an ESL class) and authentic materials (items not designed for the ESL student) the teacher can strike a balance of creating a more interesting and up-to-date lesson with a structured syllabus appropriate for the class level. Tips are given on how to analyze and select the correct course book for a particular class, and links for creating additional material not covered in a course book are provided.
