This unit covered conditionals and reported speech, and was a fairly complex one to understand the specifics of. On its surface those concepts seem simple enough, but when you take a look at all of the tense and verb changes required for different circumstances, it quickly becomes quite the headache. It becomes especially mind-bending when you add in thinking about teaching it to non-native English speakers, though the described suggested learning activities do sound considerably more digestible. I would like to know more about at what level this would be first taught, as it seems like it would require a fairly advanced working knowledge of the language already, though perhaps the activities can be scattered in earlier to somewhat less directly begin teaching the core concepts at work.
