Unit 13 deals with teaching pronunciation and phonology. It focuses on different types of intonation and the best techniques for teaching it to the students. It also deals with word stress, what it means, its importance, as well as techniques for teaching and practicing it. The second half of the unit focuses on the phonemic alphabet and articulation (it explains, in great detail, the place and manner of articulation of individual vowels and consonants). The end of the unit is dedicated to the techniques which can be used for teaching individual sounds (peer dictation, over-emphasizing of the sounds, visuals and tongue twisters).
