In Unit 5 Classroom Management - it is the responsibility of the teacher to organise and manage the class using a friendly and relaxed manner while maintaining discipline. The teacher is the model for the correct use of language and it is important to use eye contact to hold attention, check participation and if needed to correct the students behaviour. Gesturing adds visual interest to the lesson and can also increase the pace and give meaning to words being used. In the voice the teacher has a tool to use which can help the students relax and enjoy the information. The seating arrangement is also important and each arrangement has advantages and disadvantages. Often times the room size and class size will dictate the arrangement. Groupings are also important for increasing student talk time and can be adapted to the different lessons. Classroom management using the schools guidelines is an important factor, handling problems immediately, developing rapport and enjoying the student go a long way in having a good class.
