I really liked how this unit didn’t just give information about present tense verb forms, but it also gives great strategies to use in the classroom in order to help students learn and cultivate these tenses into their speaking and writing. For example, I liked the “Questionnaire” activity for learning, writing, and speaking about daily habits. That would be a great way to get students speaking in the present simple tense while also using some adverbs to describe how often they perform these habits or routines. I also like the “Find someone who…” game. This could easily be adapted in different ways like “Have you ever…” to encourage students to use the present perfect tense in both question, affirmative, and negative forms. I think the introduction to all the tenses was explained very well and gives an easy big picture overview of what the next few tenses will look like. Twelve tenses does seem intimidating at first, especially for a student learning English. However, when we break it down by three different types of four tenses each, it seems much more reasonable and able to tackle. This unit did a good job breaking down each type in a reasonable and sensible manner. I also liked the explanation of possible frequent student errors/mistakes, as those are often what I see in my current classroom of English learners.
