One thing that I wish these units included is a brief overview of the equivalencies in other languages. For example, I have no idea if other languages have similar words or phrases to express modals. As a teacher, I would give me a lot more insight if I knew which of my students have been exposed to this kind of language before and which students simply don’t have these types of translations in their native language. Another interesting part of this unit for me was the phrasal verbs. I have never heard of these before and didn’t know there was a name for them. I don’t think I have even thought about them before, but after reading about them, they make perfect sense. I have always had trouble explaining to my students when there are too verbs or a verb and a preposition that seem so unrelated, yet together, they mean something completely different. I can see how this concept would be tricky to teach.
