From this unit, I learned how to make the sentences with past tenses. Past simple is used for a past action when the time is given or the action clearly took place at a definite time even though this time is not mentioned. Past continuous is used for an action, which began before that time and probably continued after it. Past Perfect is 'the past in the past', or the action began before another action in the past. Past perfect continuous is used to talk about longer actions or situations in the past that had been going on continuously up to the past moment that we are thinking about.
