Unit 1 created an awareness of what to expect from an English Second Language teacher as well as from the various age groups of learners. I found it particularly useful to inform my decision of which group of learners I would possibly focus on once certified. In addition, understanding what motivates students at the different age groups to learn English highlights the importance of ensuring that lessons / activities are pitched at the correct level to encourage participation and to enhance their enthusiam to continue to learn.
