The unit covered the teaching of receptive skills, that is reading and listening. The unit discussed reasons for reading and listening, the specific skills in play when reading and listening, and the factors to keep in mind when taching reading and listening (topic, language level, creating interest and comprehension tasks). Finally there was an outline of a typical receptive skills lesson. I found the list of specialist skills interesting, and even though the unit's content wasn't really new information for me I found that it provided a clear and complete checklist for teaching receptive skills, and the sample lesson gave me some good ideas for future lessons.
