It is truly amazing how as a native speaker I just do not think about these rules. I had to really reflect how my natural patterns fall or don't fall into the rules and where something sounds right but when I put the rules in place and think about what the sentence is really saying then it is incorrect. I realized how much I take for granted the rules that I apply everyday in my speech and writing without even thinking about it.
