Unit 2 was about Parts of Speech and in which order they are used in a sentence. I will mention only the information which was new for me. There are 8 parts of speech: noun, verb, adjective, adverb, infinitive, gerund, pronoun, preposition/pronoun. (I would say, that there are 9 parts of speech in English language). Many same words can be different parts if speech, depending on how they are used. The basic order of words in English is: a subject-> verb -> an object. Verbs can be transitive (always follow by an object) and intransitive (are used without an object). Adverbs are not only made by adding suffix -ly to the end of an adjective. Some adverbs and adjectives are coinside. There are different categories of adverbs. Using several adverbs in a row we have to follow the pattern:adverb of place - adv.of manner - adv.of time. If we use several adjectives in a row, we should follow the pattern: adj.of size - age - color - shape - material +noun. Some possessive adjectives coinside with possessive pronouns. In order to not to get confused, we need to remember that pronouns replace a nouns, so instead of saying, "It is my pen" we can say,"It's mine", by replacing a noun "pen" and its pissessive adjective "my" with the possessive pronoun "mine". ArtickIes are the most difficult parts of grammar for me, and I will try to practice more on using them in a write way.
