My reflection of this course is that I find this course very interesting in the skills set I need to have in order to manage the class effectively. My take from this course is that as a teacher one should be able to manage the class effectively, by having effective physical presence, voice, and gesture in the classroom. In my opinion, I believe a teacher can use her physical presence in the classroom, by showing the students they are involved in the lesson at all times, also by encouraging students along the way is also a way to show the teacher presence in the classroom and thus makes the learning more effective, and it also improve students understanding of the language. I believe as a teacher one should have the right tone that is vibrant and fun to make teaching more interesting and fun, it always good for a teacher to speak slowly and clearly to increase student understanding of the language. I have learned the different ways a teacher should arrange seating and all this depends on the size of the class, the material, the space of the class, the student personality and also the lesson activity. As a teacher, I learned that to have effective class and allow students to come out of their comfort zone, are to arrange group work, but also changing up students into different each time is a very effective way of managing the classroom effectively. Changing students into different groups allow each student to get comfortable with each other, thus increasing learning among students. I believe a good teacher should ensure all students are equally involved in the lesson, by knowing all their student's names. A good teacher should try to spend time with students that are not clear on lesson or students that are having difficulties mastering the language, however, in doing so, the teacher should ensure that the other students giving the task to keep the other students occupied. Finally, make take from this unit is that it is very important for the teacher and students to establish a good rapport amount each other. However, the teacher should ensure that when building rapport in the classroom, such as seating arrangement, the teacher must be observant as to which students get on well together and which do not, thus reducing conflict among each other. Last, but surely not least, be positive, be punctual, show respect to all students and give clear instruction to students at all times.
