This unit presents the phonemic system, explains the various aspects of pronunciation in English and gives ways of teaching them.
I was aware of the phonemic ‘symbols’ but was not familiar with them, so this unit was very useful to me. Similarly, I learned to pay attention to the intonation and the stress in different sentences and words and s a non-native speaker of English, I wish I had been taught those techniques to improve my pronunciation when I was learning. I certainly intend to use the material in this unit to help me teach pronunciation in the future.
