This unit covered the structures and usages of the ‘present tenses’ (simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous) as part of the tenses that make up the English language. The unit also covered 4 key areas of the present tense: Form (positive/negatives and grammatical structure), Usages (how the tense is used), Typical student errors and Activate stage teaching ideas or activity ideas for presenting and practicing the subject in the classroom. This information helped me to understand how the present tense works as an important area of English grammar and the importance of having a
“sound knowledge of the system” in order to teach the subject to students effectively.
