In this unit I learned about how much more complex the english grammar system is than I thought. Growing up as a native english speaker I never gave much thought to tenses and the rules of grammar because I learned most of them in regular conversation, not so much in the classroom. I have more respect for some of the difficulties faced by non-native speakers when learning the English language. Once I started thinking about it I do realize that we have so many ways in which we use verbs and so many irregular verbs that it must be very difficult to learn all of those rules when you aren't already used to them.
