This unit covers reported speech and the conditionals, the rules that apply to their use and how to teach them.
I am used to suing reported speech and the various conditionals naturally but I never realised there were so many rules that applied to their construction. I do not remember learning all of this at school and university while studying English, so this unit presented a lot of new information to digest for me. My highlights were the precise verbal structures of the five different types of conditionals, and the correspondences between each tense in direct speech and its counterpart in indirect speech.
