In this chapter of this course, I have learnt the difference between authentic and created materials and the advantages and disadvantages of both. I learnt about course books and ways to modify additional materials aimed at the learning objectives of the class. One of the biggest disadvantages to course books is they don't have everything you need in them. There are different students at varying levels and I may have to teach a grammar point to have one student understand because it is not in the book. There isn't a perfect textbook.
