The tense system is complex in English, The simple tenses come in three options: present simple, present continuous and present perfect. Present simple is used to denote simple actions that take place regularly, also facts, commentaries, directions, instructions, present stories, newspaper headlines. Present continuous is used to express action that is in progress at the time of speaking, describing developing situations, background events in preset story. We use the present perfect tense to talk about finished actions, completed past actions, to talk about something that began in the past and is still true now.
