This unit allowed the opportunity to observe and analyze two different filmed scenarios of English language lessons. The first lesson portrayed an ineffective and less successful lesson due to the teachers non-engaging attitude and poor teaching skills, where students were confused and intimidated. The second lesson demonstrated a more effective and successful class lesson due to it’s clearer lesson structure as well as it’s more engaging, inclusive and mindful teacher. By being able to focus on the teacher’s attitude, teaching style, and lesson structure, this allows the observer to put themselves into the students’ perspectives in order to understand how the teacher’s manner and attitude affect how the student feels and how it affects their learning. This, in turn, allows the observer to think of the right decisions as a teacher in the classroom.
