Classroom management is one thing that I have seen to be extremely important in creating positive learning experiences. When I reflect on my numerous classes in the past, typically the ones I remember most fondly had good classroom management. In classes where I felt respected, where I felt the rules and expectations were fair and where the student participation was varied and unpredictable are the classes I remember as being most productive and fun. Some of the material in this unit is just common sense to me, but "common sense" isn't always so common. Of course no one wants to be picked on, forgotten or forced into the limelight but these things often happen in classrooms. I hope in my future classrooms that I do a good job respecting people for their differences and managing classrooms in a way that allows for the best results for everyone.
