This Unit was about Past Tense. We learned about Past simple, past perfect, past continuous and past perfect continuous Tense. Simple Past Tense - It is used to describe a completed activity that happened in the past. In other words, it started in past and ended in past. It is also used for actions completed at a definite time in past. Affirmative Sentence- add ‘d’or ‘ed’ to the base form of verb Negative - add ‘did not ‘ or didn’t before base form of verb Question- add ‘did’ + subject before base form of verb. Past Continuous Tense- past continuous tense is used to describe an activity in the past which was interrupted. It is used without a time expression, it can indicate gradual development that took place in past.it can be an action began before that time and probably continued after it. Affirmative- subject+was/were+ verb (ing) Negative- subject + was/were+ not+ verb(ing) Question- was/were + subject + verb(ing) Past Perfect Continuous Tense- It is used to show that an on going action in the past has ended. Affirmative- subject + had + been+ verb (ing) Negative - subject + had + not + been + verb (ing) Question - had + subject + been + verb ( ing)
