This unit gives an overview of the usage of present tenses. I learnt differences between Present Simple, Present Continuous, Present Perfect and Present Perfect Continuous. Also how to form proper sentences, negatives and questions in these tenses. For example: we use Present Simple when we talk about habits (I drink coffee every morning), permanent situations (Summer doesn't come after Winter), directions (Do I turn left?) . We use Present Continuous when we talk about an action that is in the progress of the time speaking (I am listening house music); to describe developing situations (It is going to rain); to talk about temporary action that is not necessarily in progress at the time of speaking (Are you watching any good TV shows? ) We use Present Perfect when we talk about finished actions that happened at definite time (I have been to Australia); when we talk about something which began in the past but we are not sure if it will continue or not (I haven't been home for 2,5 years); when we are thinking about completed past actions carried out in an unfinished time period at the time speaking (Has he cleaned the room?) We use Present Perfect Continuous when we communicate an ongoing activity, when we want to say how long it has continued (I have been waiting for 84 years; You haven't been waiting for 84 years); To describe a recently finished activity which has a present result (Has he been working out? He is sweaty.)
