The system of past tenses is similar to the one of the present tenses. There are three options of the past tense - past simple, past continuous and past perfect. The usage is quite similar to those of the present tenses. the most common mistakes the students make when using past tenses is confusing the verb forms. The most complex test is past perfect continuous which is used to talk about longer actions or situations in the past that had been going on continuously up ti the moment that we are thinking about.
