The aim of this unit is to show how much the behaviour of a teacher and his/her professionalism can impact the students’ learning. It comprises two videos; the first one shows a terrible teacher who does all the possible mistakes a teacher can make, and the second one shows an excellent teacher who manages to get his students involved and happy to learn.
Because the teacher and the students are the same in both videos, one can easily see how the teacher’s attitude and level of preparation can change the entire dynamic of the class. I learned how critical it is to smile, to use humour, and to be enthusiastic to make the students feel comfortable and willing to learn. I also think I understand well the value of the ESA system now.
