This unit focussed on the productive communication skills of writing and speaking. I learned that it is important to spend time within the classroom developing my students' writing skills. Although this "quiet time" can sometimes feel unproductive, it is important that my students have the time to gain fluency in a structured environment, as writing can require more precision than speaking and will have a big impact on a student's success within the upper-grade classroom.
