From unit 1, something that has stuck out to me as a main point of focus is the ability to connect with my students and establish a mutual respect which will then allow me to maintain balance in the class organically. By understanding my students' culture and first language, current english language level, and their motives for being in the class I am able to relate to them on a personal level. Once I understand their position and goals and they understand my position and expectations I can then identify which roles I will utilize in order to be best benefit the success of the class.
