I have learnt about past perfect continuous sentences as well as irregular and regular verb usage. Verb "want" can be shown as a regular past simple form adding "ed" to the end of the verb to include "Wanted" as a regular past simple form. The sentence "By the time I arrived, John had been cooking for 30 minutes." This is an example of the "past continuous" form. The lesson included examples of various past tenses.
