It is apparent that English is very much a derivative language and as such its structure, although quantifiable in terms of definitions, contains many very complex and puzzling exceptions to the established 'rules.' As such, any newcomer to the language would need to be given a wide range of examples for each part of speech in order to hope to master these irregularities. The components of parts of speech can seem complex and therefore the teaching of these elements of language would need to be imaginative and broken down into easily manageable examples which do not overwhelm or exasperate the learner.
