Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

This unit was about comparing and contrasting two video lessons. We were to watch two videos and point out the weaknesses and strengths of each. Overall, the first video was the weakest of the two. In my opinion, the second was stronger because the teacher's attitude was more positive; the teacher was less rude than in the first and didn't correct the students as aggressively as in the first video [for example: throwing his arms up and saying 'no no' and not bothering to explain why not]. This also probably helped with student participation as they were not off put by the teacher's negative and unhelpful responses. In the second, the elicitation was clearer than the first and the board work was more coherent [for example, the grouping of sentences could have been done in a way that made neg. and pos. comparisons easier and clearer rather than separated from each other in some cases]. The transitions were also smoother between phases in the second video. Also, the teacher put up typos [apostrophe usage] on the first one thus modeling incorrect English for the students. Also, in the first video most interactions were teacher on student . . . the second had a bit more time for student on student due to the final bingo game/survey but still, he could have involved the students more, by, for example, having them put up answers to worksheets on the board and self correcting rather than putting up the answers himself and only partial answers that left out the context!! [He only put up check marks in the first video . . . ie no help at all . . . and then erased them too soon anyway and in the second he only put up the verb without the surrounding material]. This could have been made much clearer also, by having stuff up on the board ahead of time and covering up the answers. At any rate. I learned a lot about the actual process by watching these videos. The problem is . . that when I got the test . . . I had difficulty choosing between two answers on most questions. Also, I am still not understanding the distinction between phases. Things that I would think belong to a study phase . . . sometimes turn up as a second part of an engage phases and vice versa. I will need more clarification on this. Thanks you.
