Past Simple or often called Past Tense, is easy to use in English. It is used to talk about something that started and finished at a definite time in the past. All Verbs whether Regular or Irregular Verb have forms. These are the Simple Past, Past Continuous, Past Perfect and Past Perfect Continuous. The difference between a regular and irregular verb is the formation of Simple Past and Past Participle. Regular Verb are dependably consistent, it ends in d or ed, as does the past participle. Past continuous tense is also known as Past Progressive Tense, refers to continuing action that was happening at some point in the past. It is formed by combining the past tense of the be-verb (was/were) with verbs present participle (ing). Example: I was watching the game when she arrived. Past Perfect Continuous shows that an action that started in the past continued up until another time in the past. It is constructed using had been + verb's present participle (ing). Example: I had been working at the company for five (5) years when I got my promotion. Past Perfect Tense indicates that an action was completed at some point in the past before something else happened. This tense is formed with the past tense form of "to have" (had) and the past participle of the verb (which can be either regular or irregular verb). Example: I had walked four blocks by dinner time.
