Classroom management is an extremely important tool for TEFL. It is the skill of organizing the class, individual students and what takes place within the class. Your most prominent tools are the use of your eyes, voice, and gesture. You may group students as a whole class, as individuals, or as pairs, each with positives and negatives depending on the activity of each lesson. You should always use the students' names, and be sure to use the name at the end of the question so every students begins to think & formulate an answer as the question is being asked. Classroom arrangement is also important, and the factors are age, physical space, material available, and personality. The issues that may arise are writing on the board, individual attention, teacher talk time, giving instructions, building rapport, and discipline.
